PHT Corporation (www.phtcorp.com)
PHT is a leading global provider of electronic patient reported outcome (ePRO) solutions used in more than 280 clinical trials around the world.  PHT’s eDiary (electronic diary) solutions capture self-reported patient experiences within the needs and requirements of specific clinical trial.  The Palm-Pilot device-like solutions improve data quality and enable real-time data gathering, access and compliance approved of and trusted by the leading pharmaceutical and other companies, the FDA and EMEA.

When they came to us in 2005, PHT’s most enduring challenge had consistently been delivering a bug-free, FDA approved and tested device; a difficult and complicated problem to solve from any perspective.  The biggest headache they explained, was QA testing.  PHT just couldn’t seem to deliver bug-free systems and products that met the high standards of clinical trials and compliance.

EE was already developing and delivering a hefty number of software products and solutions to and on behalf of our clients so the challenges in creating and implementing aggressive and reliable testing for sensitive, precise and highly regulated standards were not only familiar, but ones the company was consistently dealing with.  We built a process and program design for a remote QA engineering and testing group which when implemented, almost immediately started showing some real progress in alleviating QA problems that had long plagued PHT.

It’s been three years since that first meeting and PHT’s growth has increased as radically as the size and depth of their development team in Croatia. 

• An initial PHT team of three EE people in 2004 has become an exclusive team of more than 30 EE engineers.
• Responsibility for QA testing on deliverable products only has been expanded to include software development for PHT devices and clients.
• EE developed and supports the principal in-house software system that takes the actual trial requirements and turns it in to code for the devices.
• EE’s PHT team is directly integrated in to PHT’s communications, work and time tracking systems; and
• The Croatian team is now the first call and resource for any PHT technical hiring.

uLocate (www.ulocate.com)
uLocate is North America's leading publisher of mobile location services.  The company’s cross-carrier location platform enables the rapid deployment of innovative handset and network-based LBS applications.  uLocate partners with a broad range of leading carriers, MVNOs and leading consumer brands to bring location applications to mobile subscribers.

Since our first pilot less than a year ago, the EE/uLocate software development team has grow and currently numbers some ten people working exclusively on major initiatives for uLocate and their customers.  ULocate credits the EE/uLocate team members as key contributors to uLocate’s rapid growth and platform distribution for these compelling location-based services.   

A key aspect of the EE teams work for uLocate is their ability to take on responsibility for much of the mission-critical day-to-day development, maintenance and support of new and existing products in the development cycle.  This allows the uLocate in-house development team to focus on the critical job of developing next-generation products and technologies.  The EE/uLocate team essentially has responsibility for much of uLocate’s emerging and existing products and services whether it’s innovative developments or feature requests, bug fixes, maintenance, or integration and maintenance issues.

With the EE team, uLocate’s core R&D can focus 100% of their energies on the future and work distraction-free on the important job of keeping uLocate’s technologies, offerings and clients ahead of the curve.  It’s a very powerful model that substantially offsets the overall cost by allowing each development team to focus on mission- and customer-critical work without distraction.
